Der Mund ist die zentrale Öffnung und Tor des Körpers. Hier wird Nahrung zerkleinert und Sprache artikuliert. Hier kommunizieren wir zwischen Innen und Außen.
Kleine skulpturale Objekte werden aus Teig im Mund geformt, gebacken und anschließend als Keks zum Essen angeboten. Zähne, Zunge und Lippen kommen zum Einsatz wie Hammer und Meißel des Bildhauers. Der Vorgang wird nicht visuell gelenkt, sondern sinnlich, mit Hilfe des Tast- und Geschmackssinns und der Vorstellungskraft. Im Gegensatz zur traditionellen Skulptur, die das Äußere eines menschlichen Körpers wiedergibt, meist in unvergänglichem Material, stellen die Kekse die Hohl- und Negativräume eines menschlichen Körpers dar, das nach aussen gekehrt wird. Sie sind fragil und vergänglich und lösen sich auf in privater Interaktion mit dem Betrachter bzw. Konsumenten.
The mouth is the primary opening and entrance way of the body. It is here where food is broken up and where language is articulated. It is here where we communicate between the outer and the inner.
Small sculptural objcts are being moulded out of dough in the mouth, baked, and afterwards offered for consumption. Teeth, tongue and lips are pressed into service like the sculptor’s hammer and chisel. The process is steered not visually, but rather in a purely sensual way, with the help of the senses of taste and touch as well as the power of imagination. Contrary to traditional sculpture, which is showing the outside of a human figure, usually in a solid, lasting material, the cookies are the inside and negative space of a human body. The interior of the body is turned outward. The finished sculptures may be devoured. They are fragile, perishable and dissolve in a private act of interaction with viewer or consumer.
