Im Bereich der Prinzregentenstrasse in München sind kleine, grüne Holzkästen installiert, an denen man eine Internetadresse und eine allgemeine Redewendung (einen "Allgemeinplatz") auf ein Kärtchen stempelt.
Drei Arten der Öffentlichkeit - physischer, virtueller und sprichwörtlicher Raum - werden miteinander verlinkt.
Die Ebenen assoziieren und verflechten sich im individuellen Erleben und in Raum und Zeit.
Beispiel 1
- Location: Europaplatz. Sternförmiger, vom Verkehr umflossener Platz vor dem Friedensengel
- Gestempeltes Zitat: Die Freiheit, sich zu bewegen wohin man möchte.
- Netzadresse: -> sensorium.org/webhopper - Der Webhopper! Hier kann man geografisch nachvollziehen auf welchen Web-Servern man sich beim Internetsurfen bewegt.
Beispiel 2
- Location: Villa des Malers Franz von Stuck
- Zitat: Kunst drück die Person des Schaffenden aus.
- Netzadresse: -> diacenter.org/km. Die beliebstesten und unbeliebtesten Bilder unterschiedlicher Nationen stellen die Frage nach unabhängiger Kunst und Geschmack in Frage… Smarte Studie von Komar und Melamid.
Der Internetwanderweg läßt sich im Netz nicht nachvollziehen, sondern muß, ähnlich einem Alpenvereinswanderweg, zu Fuß erwandert und von Hand gestempelt werden. Ein Bogen wird gespannt zwischen dem WoldWideWeb und dem Ursprung der Druckkultur - dem Handstempel.
Small, green, wooden boxes are installed in the vicinity of Prinzregentenstrasse of Munich. Just follow the directions, take a ticket from each box and stamp it as you would on an Alpine Club hiking trail. At each station, stamp a different quote and an Internet address on your ticket. Every stamped quotation represents a kind of common area and refers to: The physical place and A site on the Internet. The artist draws associations - "Links" - between physical, virtual, and imaginary spaces and places, whereby the Internet is an extended aspect of the public domain.
Example 1:
- Location Europaplatz: The stamp box has been set up on an island boulevard in front of the Friedensengel – a star-shaped boulevard with traffic flowing around it.
- Stamped quote: "The freedom to move wherever you want"
- Internet address: -> "www.sensorium.org/webhopper/index.html" – the "webhopper." Here, a window opens up and you can trace your datagram’s path around the globe, as you hop from site to site on the Internet.
Example 2:
- Location Prinzregent-Place: People often sit chatting with one another near the fountains on one of the many benches arranged along the broad expanse of Prinzregenten Square.
- quote: "A public space makes interaction possible."
- Internet address: -> "netrezonator.imgsrc.co.jp" – at the Netrezonators site you can jam with other Net users by choosing instruments and clicking on tuning forks
Various fields and associative references are brought to the fore. There are no structured ways of perceiving, only options for movement through existing places in the public domain. The sites on the Web are not linked with each other. In order to visit them you must first hit the pavement and stamp your card by hand. A connection will be made between the origins of printing culture - represented by the stamp - and the current situation a few hundred years later, namely: global, digitalized data networks.
