CHRISTIAN SCHOEN ABOUT ANGELA DORRER
The principal aspect of artist, Angela Dorrer's, work is her interest in developments in communication, whether it be aspects of the intimacy between individuals or the structures of global networks. The projects presented in this catalogue span both the private and the public domains. Cookies, that have been moulded in the mouth, serve as metaphors representing communication and connectedness in her projects, "Cookies" and "Chewing Parties." For a newly built suburb in Munich (kunstprojkete_riem), she has developed a play and activity ritual in which the residents are involved in individually tailored, dramatised events. With her work, "Familysculpture," Dorrer once again connects the virtual realm of the internet with the tangible world, and presents the family as a "Prototypical Community." Personal histories and experiences between strangers are recurring themes in Dorrer's projects. At the same time, she develops entire structures built up around one central idea. Her works employ various visual forms, often involving a number different artistic roles, and the Internet as a linking medium plays a significant part in her work.
